 2019

You are nearly to the halfway mark of your sophomore year! Which means you are three quarters of the way to the halfway mark of your high school experience!!! That's enough fractions for now... but it is a great reminder of how far you have come! This coming month will be filled with hours of revising, taking summative exams, preparing your career presentations, end of semester celebrations, time with family, friends, travels, and hopefully rest and relaxation as we bid adieu to 2019.

In the counseling office we are here to cheer you on and help you get to the end-of-semester finish line! 🤗

Career Path Presentations
MAIA Learning
During October, you began career research in your seminar classes. You completed the Career Interest Profiler and matched some careers with you interests. After adding favorite/possible career options to your list on Maialearning, the next step was to complete the Career Path Investigation where you researched TWO career possibilities. This assignment included 38 questions to complete - including four questions that require a conversation with your parents. If you need assistance or have any questions regarding this assignment please email your counselor or stop in to the counseling office...we would love to have a visit from you regardless, to catch up on all things sophomore! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Please be sure to complete the Career Path Investigation by December 10, 2018 so you can begin your Career Path Presentation!!!

Whilst there are no formal final exams in Semester 1, students will continue to have summative assessments in class. For the exact schedules, please refer to the Grade 10 counseling page and exam calendar. Students should work on developing their own personal strategies for both standardised testing and/or IB Diploma Exams in their Senior year. Try some of the tips below!

Getting off the Grid https://productivityist.com/going-off-the-grid/

You have worked hard all semester. It's been a great year full of new friends, new sports, new clubs...You have been so busy that you haven't even had a chance to power off your computer or even your phone?!?

Well, you are in for a treat....winter break is (almost) here! And it's time to unwind, disconnect and immerse yourself...in nature, in a good book, baking goodies, with your friends, your family, your pet. Mike Vardy, the Founder of Productivityist, knows exactly what it means to be productive but needs reminders himself, to disconnect. Being productive includes a regiment that includes time off the screens, without notifications, to be free to let your creativity flow! So put on that auto-responder on Friday, December 20th and....sing with Michael...

Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Let your heart be light
From now on your troubles will be out of sight

Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Make the Yuletide gay
From now on your troubles will be miles away

Here we are as in olden days
Happy golden days of yore
Faithful friends who are dear to us
TGather near to us once more

Through the years we all will be together
If the fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the highest bough
And have yourself a merry little Christmas night!!!
