You are seven weeks into your high school experience!
In September you completed the Learning and Productivity assessment to help you discern what your optimal study/learning environment is. This is a great opportunity to take some time to consider your results and what adjustments you may need to make to your space and environment in order to be most successful in your study time.
In the October newsletter, you will find information about upcoming events, how to find academic support, tools for managing your digital devices, our attendance policy, and our standardized assessment recommendation.

Seminar: Learning and Productivity Assessment
In September, Grade 9 students explored the ways they learn and are most productive by taking the Learning and Productivity Assessment in MaiaLearning. This assessment provides information regarding the learning environment and methods  that are effective for the student.
These customized results can be applied to their study practices to help them be successful in their high school journey.

Time Management
Multi-tasking has been proven not to increase productivity. In fact, we lose concentration time switching between activities.

What's the Solution?
Minimize activities you are doing at one time!

Here are some apps and extensions to help with your time management!
  • Self-Control (Mac)/Cold Turkey (PC)
  • Focus (Mac)
  • Freedom
  • Time Tracker (Chrome Extension)
Standardized Testing
As a freshman, we don't want you to worry about standardized testing.
No ACT. No SAT. No SAT Subject Tests.

Focusing on your growth and success as a student
in the high school classroom should be the goal for this year.

Discover who you are as a learner,
develop effective study habits,
apply them in your classes.

We do not recommend beginning these standardized tests in Grade 9.
You will have plenty of time to take all of the tests in your junior (grade 11) year.
