Each month we will send out a newsletter providing resources and highlighting topics that will be helpful for the high school journey. This month you will find news about our first seminar, our new college and career research platform: MaiaLearning, and upcoming events for Grade 9 students and parents.
Welcome to High School
Welcome to this new chapter in your life: HIGH SCHOOL! We hope this year is a wonderful beginning to a four-year journey that will prepare you to launch into your next life adventures. At Seoul Foreign School High School, there are many ways you can challenge yourself to grow, learn and contribute. We hope you will take advantage of the opportunities available to you!

The high school is full of caring and committed faculty who are willing to help you in your adjustment to high school, make well thought-out decisions, and plan for your future. Your counselors, teachers, coaches, administrators are valuable resources directly available to you! Our goal is to help you to have a positive and worthwhile high school experience. We want you to succeed academically, socially, and personally.

Students are assigned the counselor that shares the same house color. Of course, in an emergency you may wish to talk to another counselor, and that is ok… All counselors are glad to help you! We encourage you to seek the expertise of your counselor in making your career and educational choices and in addressing any personal issues which may arise.

Club opportunities have been made available to all high school students! The applications to run a club have been submitted, regular time in the schedule has been provided for clubs to meet, and last week students had the opportunity to attend several club fairs! Students could choose from all kinds of opportunities  - service projects, developing a hobby or skill, clubs bringing awareness to social justice issues and organizations, etc... We hope you were willing to take a risk and try something new!

Sleep is an essential ingredient to the success of a high school student. This link takes you to an article addressing the importance of a Regular Bed Time for teenagers.

"Here are some simple tips that will help your child or teenager maintain a regular sleep routine:
  • Set a regular, non-negotiable, bedtime each night
  • Turn off all electronic devices at least 30 minutes to an hour before the child’s bedtime
  • Have a sleep preparation routine (for example, get pyjamas on, brush teeth, read a story, and so on)
  • Don’t allow your child to have any caffeinated foods or beverages at least three to four hours before bedtime
  • Keep light levels low in the bedroom. "
